How make fractions in microsoft word7/11/2023 I think the issue might have something to do with the difference between "inline" and "display" equations. I'm copying and pasting fractions because I'm writing a document with a lot of equations, some of which are very similar, so I want to copy and paste and just edit with the changes. To get fractions to look exactly the same when youre working with odd fractions, youd. ![]() For instance, it wont do it for 7/8 or 11/32 or anything like that. However, Word will only automatically change it if its a certain string of characters. That would be ok if I could at least copy-and-paste my already written small fractions and have them remain "Small Fractions", but I can't - when I paste them they get converted to "Stacked Fractions". If you type 1/2, Word automatically changes it to look like this. These equations are difficult to type using basic. Business publications that discuss growth trends often use complex equations with fractional exponents. There's another type of fraction you can choose from the menu bar called a "Small Fraction", but there doesn't appear to be any shortcut (i.e., equivalent to typing "a/b" for a Stacked How to Write Fractional Exponents in Word.
